Drug trafficking network in Spain busted, two Albanians arrested with over 80 kg of cocaine

Two Albanian citizens have been arrested at the port of Vigo, Spain, after allegedly attempting to smuggle over 80 kilograms of cocaine from Ecuador, hidden in a container of exotic fruits.
The operation was carried out by the Guardia Civil in collaboration with customs authorities and the Tax Agency. According to official announcements from the Spanish authorities, the container was selected for inspection by the Risk Analysis Unit and during the X-ray scan, the narcotic substance hidden in the cooling system was identified.
The two suspects were arrested in the early hours of February 15th while attempting to enter the container to remove the drugs. During the operation, 61 packages of cocaine were seized, as well as equipment suspected of being used to open the container, including a folding ladder, a drill, cable ties, mobile phones and a vehicle.
Further checks revealed nine more packages, bringing the total quantity seized to over 80 kilograms.
According to Spanish media , this is the second cocaine seizure in the port of Vigo this year. Authorities say investigations are continuing to identify other people involved in the network.
