Bayraktar "Kizilema" makes history, hits first target with air-to-air

Bayraktar "Kizilema", the first unmanned aircraft fully developed in Turkey by the Baykar company, has marked a historic achievement in world combat aviation.

During a test at the Sinop firing range, "Kizilema" hit an air target with a jet engine with complete accuracy using an air-to-air missile.

This test also marked the first time in aviation history that an unmanned fighter successfully destroyed a jet-powered aerial target using a BVR (Beyond Visual Range) missile.

The test was also closely followed by F-16 aircraft and the AKINCI drone, which monitored the operation and confirmed the successful strike.

According to Turkish authorities, this is a major step towards advanced aerial operations, positioning "Kizilema" as one of the most promising new generation platforms.

"Kizilema" has been developed and tested since its launch in 2021, until its first flight at the end of 2022, and with ongoing tests throughout this year.

The latest success, namely the BVR air-to-air missile strike, comes as the culmination of a carefully and seriously planned process.

With this success, Turkey further strengthens its role in the defense industry, demonstrating full technological capabilities in the development of unmanned aerial vehicles with combat capability.
