Arrested in Greece as a hitman, searches at Dhimitër Meci's house. What was discovered?

Albanian authorities have searched the home of the parents of Dhimitër Meci, 45, who was arrested in Greece as part of an organized hit-and-run group. The news was announced by Greek media, which reported that during the search of the apartment in Gjirokastra, only his 84-year-old mother was found, while Meci's room was locked.

According to reports, during the checks the following were found and seized:

2 Kalashnikov automatic weapons,

1 automatic pistol wrapped in plastic,

dozens of bullets, some of which were hidden inside bags of rice,

as well as 5 Kalashnikov rifles.

Greek media report that these weapons were allegedly prepared to be trafficked to Greece, while at the moment there is no official reaction from the Albanian police regarding the operation or the seizures.

In photos published by Greek media, the seized weapons appear with inscriptions in Albanian such as "RUSSIAN DOG RIFLE" and "RUSSIAN TT", but it is still not clear whether they were seized in Greece or during checks in Albania.

According to Greek investigation sources, the group to which Meci belonged consisted of 4 Albanian and 4 Greek citizens, who were planning an assassination attempt against a Greek mafioso in the Piraeus area, known as a former associate of Mihalis Zampouni, previously executed in a mafia assassination attempt.

The group is also suspected of several other criminal events, including the attempted murder of Jani Lala, the burning of a fuel tank, and the theft of a vehicle on July 22, 2025, to which they had placed false license plates to be used in the assassination.

During the operation conducted two days ago in Greece, the following were arrested:

Dhimitër (Dhimo) Meci, 45 years old, from Labova e Poshtme, Gjirokastër,

Fatjon (Fatjion) Prendi, 39 years old, from Lezha,

Andrea Brokeri, 32 years old, from Himara,

while Vasil Theohari, 31 years old, from Krongji i Finiqi, has been declared wanted.
