Albanian caught in France with 18 kg of cocaine worth 1.2 million euros: I am in financial difficulties

A 33-year-old Albanian man was stopped at the 'La Turbie' toll booth on the A8 motorway while driving his car.
The luggage was filled with 17.8 kg of cocaine which was divided into sixteen packages with a market value of €1,215,500.
Stopped by customs officers shortly before 8 am, this Albanian, a resident of Montpelier, was taken into custody at the gendarmerie.
He admitted that he acted as a drug trafficker to cope with financial difficulties, as he had a child to support and his parents were ill.
His Opel, purchased in September, was said to have crossed borders into Spain, Italy, Belgium and Germany on several occasions.
However, this was not enough to connect him to other drug trafficking routes.
He was remanded in custody pending his trial on February 2.
