Residents say they live in constant fear, as the rocks have begun to move and break away from the massif. According to them, every crossing on this road is a real danger, especially for families and vehicles that circulate every day on this axis, which is also frequented by travelers from Kosovo and North Macedonia.
They painfully recall a tragic event that occurred several years ago, when two brothers and the pregnant wife of one of them lost their lives as a result of a rock slide. For the residents, this is the clearest evidence of the danger that continues to threaten the area.
According to the testimonies, the institutions have been aware of the situation and have conducted field inspections, but concrete interventions have been lacking for a long time. They emphasize that there are homes in the area and that a tragedy could happen again at any moment.
On the other hand, when asked by Fiks Fare, the Municipality of Lezha admits that the problem is known and ongoing. According to its representatives, the intervention of specialized structures has been requested and a plan has been drafted to stabilize the area, with a fund dedicated to emergencies.
However, after the situation was reported by Fiksi, field work has begun. The relevant forces have intervened to remove dangerous rocks and stabilize the area.
