Interpol Tirana arrests 5 wanted Albanians in England, their criminal records revealed

Interpol Tirana, in cooperation with the National Wanted Unit, part of the National Crime Agency, has identified and arrested five Albanian citizens for extradition purposes in our country over the past four weeks.

This is confirmed by documents from the City of Westminster Magistrate Court in London, available to Top Channel journalist Muhamed Veliu.

Renato Hasani, 37, was hiding in England after being wanted by Albanian justice for conspiracy to sell drugs.

The other arrested in the Enfield area in north London is Murat Mehmeti, 62, who was convicted of forgery on May 27, 2014, and sentenced to 1 year and 4 months in prison, with probation. Mehmeti left Albania without completing his probation, and as a result, the court activated the sentence.

Murat Mehmeti is attending the extradition hearings on bail after posting a bail of £15,000 in court.

Meanwhile, Gëzim Çela, 37, was arrested after Albanian justice wanted him for the criminal offense of trafficking 46 kilograms of drugs to Kosovo in collaboration with other persons on 15.10.2015.

Andi Hoxha, 23, is another wanted Albanian justice official handcuffed in England as an internationally wanted person after on 14.11.2022 in Fushë Krujë he caused the death of Lutfi Maloku, when he hit him with a Mercedes Benz while traveling at high speed on the Thumanë-Fushë-Krujë road.

Kostandino Tahiri, 30, wanted for serious injury, agreed before the court to be voluntarily extradited to Albania.

Meanwhile, data from the Supreme Court of England shows that on June 10, 2026, the English CPS Prosecution, representing the Albanian state, applied to appeal the decision of the High Court, which blocked the extradition of Edmond Haxhië and four Britons wanted by the Lezha prosecution on suspicion of involvement in the murder of businessman Ardian Nikulaj three years ago./ Top Channel
