Two people have been reported missing in Osumi in the past two days.
An operation to find a person suspected of being thrown into the Osumi canyons in Skrapar brought a new incident this Saturday. In addition to the operation of the rescuers, special forces, the army and Renea who are searching the area to find 42-year-old Ilir Kurti, several young people from Berat also volunteered and started the search.
It concerns 5 people, who risked their lives when the raft they were on capsized in the canyons. Four of them managed to get out of the water, but the fifth was swept away by the current. It is reported from the scene that it is 22-year-old Xhuljano Kaloti.
It is suspected that the young man is stuck near the entrance of a cave, an area where heavy vehicles and firefighters are unable to intervene. But the darkness and the deep terrain are not allowing search and rescue forces to intervene to save the 22-year-old, which is why urgent intervention from the air by helicopter has been requested. On the other hand, the authorities call on residents and untrained volunteers not to undertake individual initiatives in this extremely dangerous terrain.
We recall that since this morning, the search for 42-year-old Ilir Kurti, who is suspected of having jumped into the river, began in the Osumi canyons. A day ago, the police found his motorcycle and personal belongings in a place called "Blezënke Bridge".
