A 36-year-old woman was found dead on Tuesday in her apartment in France, near the border with Switzerland, while her partner has been arrested and is in custody.
According to the prosecution, the circumstances of the death still remain unclear.
The victim's partner, a 50-year-old man, was the person who notified emergency services and, according to authorities, was the last person to see him alive. He has stated that he has no connection to the incident.
According to preliminary investigations, the woman is suspected of having died from asphyxiation, but it has not yet been determined whether it was poisoning or the intervention of another person.
The French prosecution emphasizes that no visible signs of a struggle or violence were found in the apartment, except for a small mark on the victim's neck, which is not yet considered conclusive.
It turns out that her partner had previously been convicted of domestic violence.
