Cinema in mourning/ Famous Italian actor Remo Girone, Tano Cariddi of 'Octopus', passes away

Renowned Italian actor Remo Girone has died suddenly at the age of 76, at his home in Monaco, where he had lived for years with his wife, Vittoria Zinny.
Born in Asmara, Eritrea, in 1948, Girone has had a long and successful career in theater, television and cinema. He has collaborated with great directors such as Ettore Scola and Peter Greenaway, but he gained his greatest fame thanks to the legendary Italian series 'La Piovra 3', where since 1987 he played the unforgettable character of Tano Cariddi.
This character - a symbol of corruption and the dark connection between the mafia and the world of finance - transformed Girona into an icon of the small screen.
In recent years, Girone has once again shown his ability to adapt and artistically revive: from the successful comedy 'Ma cosa ci dice il cervello', to the Hollywood blockbuster 'Le Mans '66 – La grande sfida', where he played the character of Enzo Ferrari. He later appeared in 'The Equalizer 3 – Senza tregua', proving that his talent remained alive until the end.
With the passing of Remo Girone, Italian cinema and television lose an extraordinary actor, who left behind a rich and unforgettable artistic legacy.
