Albania abolishes visas for tourists from Saudi Arabia and Qatar until the end

The Albanian government has taken a new step to encourage tourist flow from the Persian Gulf countries.

Through an amendment to the 2021 decision on the treatment of foreigners, the Council of Ministers has decided to allow visa-free entry for tourist purposes for citizens from Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

This decision, jointly proposed by the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Internal Affairs, aims to exploit the high potential of these markets during the summer season and year-end holidays.

This ease of movement is not permanent, but extends over a wide period of time through 2026.

Citizens of Saudi Arabia and Qatar can enter the Republic of Albania with only a "passport" document, without the need for a visa, from April 15 to December 31, 2026.

This deadline covers not only the peak tourist season, but also the autumn period and the December holidays, offering local tour operators a longer window of time to attract visitors with high purchasing power.

The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Internal Affairs have been tasked with implementing this decision, which will coordinate the work with border crossing points to guarantee an orderly and safe process.

The act is expected to enter into force immediately after publication in the Official Gazette, officially becoming part of the regulation on the entry and stay of foreigners in Albania.
