Andi Bushati: It's good that Salianji is running, but that party is owned by Berisha, how could he not understand that...?!
Analyst Andi Bushati, invited to the show "The Unexposed" on MCN TV, commented on Ervin Salianj's candidacy in the elections for president of the Democratic Party.
Bushati said that Salianji has the right to run and seek a better and more democratic party, but expressed surprise at the fact that Salianji has not understood that since he joined this party, the DP has been an autocratic party and Berisha's property and will always remain so.
"What we heard from Salianji and what he has said since he started the movement, I agree with 100%. These are basic things for democracy within parties. He has the right to run, to demand a better, more open, modern DP, it is a legitimate right."
Where I have a problem with Salianji, complaining that they don't let you run in the DP, is like Elisa and Taulant Balla standing up and revealing that Rama is an autocrat and won't run. Since he set foot in that party, Salianji has known that it is Sali Berisha's personal party. If I join a gang of criminals today and say, I want to make criminals good people, I say no, because you know where you're getting into.
I always tend to view these kinds of movements in the opposition, even without facts, with suspicion.
Moreover, why do I view them with suspicion? Because both in the DP and the SP, we have a tradition that, unlike what should normally happen, parties can split, become factionalized in power. When they implement policies different from those they voted for, there are groups that create schisms. In Albania, parties split when they are in opposition, they become factionalized when they are in opposition," Bushati said, among other things.
