US launches global offensive against anti-American propaganda, Rubio instructs

The United States has launched a new global strategy to combat propaganda and disinformation, activating all U.S. embassies and consulates in a coordinated international campaign. The initiative comes through a directive signed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, which calls for a more aggressive approach to foreign influence on global public opinion.

According to the diplomatic document obtained by international media, US embassies have been instructed to take concrete actions to counter what Washington considers "anti-American propaganda", especially from countries such as Iran, Russia and China.

Global campaign with digital tools

One of the key elements of the strategy is the use of social platforms, in particular the X network (formerly Twitter), owned by Elon Musk. The document describes the platform as an “innovative” tool to counter false narratives and promote verified information.

American diplomats are encouraged to use features like "Community Notes," which allow users to add context and corrections to posts, aiming to combat misinformation without infringing on freedom of expression.

Cooperation with psychological operations

Another important element of the plan is direct cooperation with the Pentagon's Psychological Operations Units (MISO). Embassies will coordinate with these structures to identify and counter foreign influence campaigns aimed at harming American interests.

This development marks a significant shift from previous more discreet strategies, moving towards a more open and direct approach to “information warfare”.

Influencers, local media and “American Spaces”

The strategy also includes using local influencers and foreign-language media to spread pro-American messages in sensitive regions. In addition, over 700 cultural spaces known as “American Spaces” are expected to be transformed into centers for promoting information and free debate.
