After the expulsion of two municipal councilors in Durrës, Dritan Burgia and Arlind Boshku, the Democratic Party has taken another decision, expelling four more members. These are Alesia Balliu, Doris Madhi, Zheni Gjergji and Rudina Allan.

According to media sources, the decision was made during a meeting of the Democratic Party Presidency in Elbasan, which was reportedly held with limited participation and under conditions that sparked debate over its legitimacy.

This fact was also confirmed by Alesia Balliu herself, who, when contacted by Newsbomb.al, confirmed that there were about 15 members at yesterday's meeting, who, according to her, did not even vote, thus claiming that the necessary quorum was not respected.

She has called this decision invalid and politically motivated. According to her, the expulsion was not approved by the relevant structures of the branch, nor by the leadership, but is a unilateral decision.

Balliu emphasizes that behind this decision are Sali Berisha, Flamur Noka and Blendi Himçi and that this was taken solely with the aim of preventing him from running for the leadership of the Democratic Party.

"The decision is null, we were not excluded, since neither the branch president nor the Presidency voted for it. It was a personal decision of Sali Berisha, Flamur Noka and Blendi Himçi who proposed it. Everything was done just so that I would not run for president of the Democratic Party. I am afraid of the race. There were 15 people at yesterday's meeting, and they did not vote," Balliu told Newsbomb, while in conclusion he announced that he would appeal the decision, requesting its reconsideration in the relevant instances.
