EU integration and Porto Romano/ Rama threatens internationals: I will not allow

Prime Minister Edi Rama acknowledged the clashes with the international factor regarding the protection of Belinda Balluku and the failure to lift her immunity, a day earlier in the Assembly, which caused reactions from several diplomatic representations.

"It is true that we have had a debate with some of our partners regarding the approach to this issue. And as I believe most know, but the minority pretend not to know, in this position I represent Albania and all Albanians, the interest of the country and one of the indisputable norms of this representation is to look my partners in the eye, to look me in the eye at the same level. I do not even think of looking down on anyone, nor do I accept anyone looking down on me.

"Beyond the caricature of political bargaining, our discussions have been constructive. There has been nothing like what has been said in terms of tension or pressure or threats. These are things that do not happen at the levels where these discussions are held. And I believe that the statements made yesterday by some representatives are also clear," Rama said today at the conference.

We recall that the German and British embassies considered Belinda Balluku's immunity a non-negotiable condition for Albania's integration into the EU.
