Activist and lawyer Erion Murataj, who has been part of the massive citizen protest demanding Rama's resignation since day one, claimed that the fate of the country is now in the hands of Albanians.
Invited to the 'News24 Weekend' show on News24, Murataj emphasized that it has now become a patriotic duty to protest every day in the square, until Rama is ousted from power.
"Not only is it a civic duty, but I think it has become a patriotic duty to be in this protest. You have been in protest since day one, you were the only ones. The protest has entered a phase that requires not simply achieving an objective, but a goal. The thing has escalated from the spark that set it on fire. What happened in Zvërnec is everything Albanians have seen in these 36 years. Zvërnec was used as a spoils of war. Who produced the AMTP, who appropriated that property? The binomial from law 7051 produced it. Who issued the ownership certificate? Rama's government has it. Within a short time, 15 directors of the Vlora Cadastre have been changed. The document does not bear the stamp of a party, but of the Albanian institution. They are playing 'war balls' with responsibility and they have voted for the laws themselves. The only ones who have suffered the consequences are the people and the culprits are; Rama and Berisha.
The protest has broken the fear, the disbelief that Albanians can stand up for their destiny. It has managed to internationalize this fact, it has brought it to the EP. Most importantly, the protest has managed to prove the creative spirit that Albanian youth has, also through the media. It has managed to reveal the best qualities that the Albanian family has. They are not sycophants, as Edi Rama says. They know how to speak with the language of reason and culture. I guarantee Rama and Berisha that if they don't listen to them, they also know how to speak, but not like skutha! The State Police was in Zvërnec, and they saw a private group of oligarchs. International drug trafficking is not done only by individuals, but by institutional classes. Don't forget the interventions in the TIMS system, the involvement of politicians, of crime coordinators. Albanians have understood that the real bandits are politics, but they are behaving with a lot of culture. Albanians have endured the Turkish and Ottoman yoke for 500 years, but this does not mean that they submit. Citizens have taken the country's fate into their own hands politically with this protest! I recognize the professional ability of some of the men and women of the Anti-Corruption Structures. SPAK has written history in Albania. It has brought the deputy prime minister to justice, to hold her criminally responsible, but Rama has refused. Ergys Agasi has taken Rama to task, because he has given the Albanians a lot of evidence against him," said Murataj.
Focusing on the scenario of the coming days of the protest, he added; "the prediction is only one; there are no negotiations! I told you, the protest has achieved many of its missions. The goal is Rama's resignation. The end of the political class has come. The call for SPAK; Rama in prison, Berisha in prison. The massification is great every day. Taxes have increased, abusive fines have increased, basket prices have increased.
