Beaver Moon/ The rare phenomenon that can be observed this Wednesday

This November's full moon will also be a supermoon called the "Beaver Moon" and can be seen this Wednesday at midnight in most of the world.

This means the moon is at its closest point to Earth in its orbit, making it appear larger and brighter than usual, NASA explains.

Why is it called the Beaver Moon?

The Old Farmer's Almanac, which began publishing the names of full moons in the 1930s, says the beaver moon got its name because this is the time of year when beavers take shelter in their dens after gathering food for the winter.

During the fur trade era, it was also known as the season to trap beavers for their thick, winter-ready pelts.

Other traditional names for the November full moon include the digging moon, the deer-moving moon, and the freezing moon, each reflecting how animals and nature approach colder weather.
