"He would be an ideal figure", Kurti proposes Adem Jashari's

Kosovo's Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, also the leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, declared on Sunday that Professor Murat Jashari would be the most suitable figure for the post of president of the country.

According to him, if political parties fail to agree on a consensual name for the head of state, then the solution remains for each political force to present its own candidate to the Assembly.

Kurti assessed that Murat Jashari, as a member of the family of national hero Adem Jashari, could provide comprehensive political and civic support, considering him a figure who would bring honor to the Republic, stability to the institution of the presidency, and security to the country at a time of numerous challenges.

"My conviction has been and continues to be that a figure, professor and personality like Murat Jashari, would enjoy all-party support, would be an honor for the republic, stability for the institution, and security for the nation."

"The geopolitical circumstances, the war in Ukraine, the US-Iran conflict and tensions in the Near and Middle East, as well as the successive threats from Serbia, including the terrorist aggression in Banjska, the kinetic attack on the Iber-Lepenc canal, and the daily threats from our northern neighbor require a moment of reflection," Kurti said at the meeting of the LVV General Council.

However, Murat Jashari, the son of Rifat Jashari, brother of Adem Jashari, along with other family members, announced earlier this week that they have no ambitions for the presidency. They stressed that such a responsibility could only be considered in exceptional circumstances, such as in the event of a state of emergency or civil war.
