9 new cases of AIDS are registered in Elbasan

9 new cases of HIV/AIDS have been registered this year in the district of Elbasan, while a total of 124 infected cases are counted.
As MCN reports, in terms of statistics, most of those affected by HIV/AIDS are men and less women.
According to the person in charge of this service in Elbasan, Elena Bibaja, the most affected age group is 35-45 years old, while four cases belong to minors.
The main ways of transmission are unprotected sex. But among young people in recent years, it has been noticed that the most frequent way of infection occurs from the use of the same syringes during the injection of narcotic substances.
Sensitizing activities were marked on the World Day against HIV/AIDS, in Elbasan, which aim to inform about protection from the disease which is mainly transmitted by unprotected sexual relations.
