Eurostat report: Italy is the country with the oldest population in Europe

The latest Eurostat report has ranked Italy as the country with the oldest population in Europe.

According to the report, the average age is 48.7 years, while the average age in the European Union has reached 44.7 years. The latter has increased by 2.2 years since 2014.

Meanwhile, neighboring Ireland has the youngest life expectancy in Europe, at 39.4 years old.

Population aging is a widespread phenomenon in all EU countries, with the exception of Malta and Germany, where the average age has decreased slightly.

Other countries such as Greece, Portugal, and Slovakia have experienced a significant increase in median age, while countries such as Cyprus, Spain, and Poland have also seen increases, but at low levels.
