Iran could soon take "practical and unprecedented military action" due to the US naval blockade of Iranian ports, state-run Press TV reported.

Citing a "senior security source", it was reported that Iran's lack of action against the blockade was an attempt to "give diplomacy a chance".

However, the official said the US "should expect a different kind of response to the ongoing naval blockade soon" if Iran's conditions are rejected.

The US has blocked ships from entering and leaving Iranian ports in an attempt to intensify economic pressure on Iran after unsuccessful direct peace talks.
