US Secretary of Defense criticizes Europe: Fight immigration!

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has criticized European countries for what he called an "invasion" of migrants on their shores, during a speech in France on the anniversary of the historic Allied landings in Normandy.

Hegseth spoke in Normandy, 82 years after the D-Day operation, when Allied forces landed on French shores to liberate northwestern Europe occupied by Nazi Germany in 1944.

" Unfortunately, today other European beaches are being attacked by other dangerous ideologies ," Hegseth declared. " Beaches in Spain, Italy, Greece and Bulgaria. Boats and men arrive every day. When will European capitals do something about this invasion? " he said.

Immigration has become one of the most controversial political issues in Europe, with parties that support tougher immigration policies gaining more and more support in the polls.

During the speech in France, Hegseth also said that some European capitals have become too " comfortable " with freedoms gained with many sacrifices, forgetting that " freedom is not free . "

Hegseth's comments constitute another criticism of European immigration policies from senior officials in President Donald Trump's administration.
