The British Royal Navy helicopter crashes in the English Channel
A member of the British Royal Navy has died after an army helicopter crashed in the English Channel during an exercise yesterday evening.

The helicopter involved in this incident is a Merlin Mk4. The aircraft crashed while conducting exercises with the aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth near Dorset, writes A2.

A second Merlin helicopter was taking part in the same exercise and was also airborne at the time of the crash.

It is reported that three crew members were on board the helicopter at the time it crashed, two of whom were rescued with the help of the coast guard, reports A2 referring to the BBC.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said he was 'deeply saddened' by the incident and paid tribute to the crew of HMS Queen Elizabeth.

During a visit to Portsmouth, Defense Secretary John Healey said the loss of life of a Royal Navy worker was terrible news.
