The Russian minister called it a sacred holiday for Russians and accused the West of strengthening the Nazi regime in Kiev.
Lavrov, during a wreath-laying ceremony at the Russian Foreign Ministry, also said that Russia will eliminate any security threat emanating from Ukrainian territory.
"I want to say with absolute honesty and responsibility: if what the reborn Nazis of the West are planning through Ukraine happens, there will be no leniency for them," Lavrov said, referring to the support given by Western countries to the Kiev regime.
