South Korea: We are considering the possibility of sending warships to the Strait of Hormuz

South Korea is carefully considering the possibility of deploying a warship to the Strait of Hormuz, while it will be in close communication with the United States regarding US President Donald Trump's request, local media reported.

South Korea's presidential office said Tuesday it would carefully review Trump's calls for U.S. allies to send warships to ensure safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

"We will be in close communication with the US regarding this matter and will make a decision after careful evaluation," the presidential office said in a statement.

It should be noted that Britain is also considering sending warships to keep the Strait of Hormuz open. A British Ministry of Defense spokesman said: “As we have said previously, we are currently discussing with our allies and partners a range of options to ensure the security of maritime transport in the region.”
