Israel's attacks on Iran, UN Security Council meets Friday afternoon

The United Nations (UN) Security Council will meet later on Friday regarding Israel's attacks on Iran, diplomats said, at Tehran's request .

Iran called on Friday for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council to hold Israel accountable for its attack that targeted Iran's nuclear program, military facilities and killed its top commanders and scientists.

The official IRNA news agency said Iran's permanent mission to the UN sent an urgent letter to the Security Council, condemning Israel's airstrikes.

The letter called for an urgent meeting of the Security Council to "hold Israel accountable for its clear act of aggression."
