Is Kim Jong Un grooming his daughter as his successor?

South Korean intelligence services believe that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un may be grooming his daughter as a political successor, according to a parliamentary briefing cited by Yonhap news agency.

"The National Intelligence Service (NIS) based its assessment on the fact that Kim's teenage daughter has recently made political statements during public appearances," Yonhap reported.

The young girl was first seen in state media photos in 2022.

Since then, she has accompanied her father on several official occasions, including several missile tests and a state visit to China.

However, little is officially known about her, as neither her age nor her name have been officially confirmed by North Korean state media.

Former professional basketball player Dennis Rodman, who met Kim in person in North Korea in 2013, said the girl's first name is Ju Ae.

Her age is estimated to be around 13 years old.

Some experts believe that Kim Jong Un may have other children besides his daughter, including a son who could be introduced to the public at a later date.
