Murder of Greek mafia boss, 4 people in custody, including two Albanians

Greek police have arrested 4 people suspected of the murder of mafioso Giorgos Moskouris, known as "Thamnakia", an event that occurred in April 2025 in Halandri.
The operation took place on Tuesday, May 6, after a months-long investigation by the Homicide Department, where the arrested are accused of being the support group for the perpetrators of the crime who killed the 55-year-old outside a private clinic in Halandri, on April 24, 2025. According to the authorities, these are two Greek citizens of Albanian origin, named Dhionis Kokoni and the other with the surname Jupe, as well as two other Greeks, named Dhimitris Aleksopoulos and Aleksandros Petropoulos.
Police estimate that the four suspects had taken over the operational part of the murder, providing weapons, vehicles, transportation and support for the foreign executioners who arrived in Greece exclusively for the execution and left immediately afterwards.
Greek police investigations are now focused on the so-called “Entik”, who is considered a key figure in the Russian-speaking mafia and is said to be in Dubai. Police believe that the order for the killing of Moskouris is linked to a dispute over control of tobacco smuggling, an activity in which “Thamnakias” is said to have been involved recently.
According to police, the investigation also includes Janis Lalas, who had previously collaborated with the victim before their relationship ended. According to the same police sources, the Lalas brothers were then linked to the “Entik” group, with authorities examining the possibility of joint involvement in the execution.
The four arrested also face charges in other cases of organized crime, including an explosion at a car dealership in Nea Erythraia in August 2024, a company that was allegedly in collaboration with Moskouris. They are also accused of violating personal data, after allegedly installing a GPS device in the vehicle of a lawyer who was linked to a jailed Greek mafia leader. Police also found surveillance cameras near her home, which reinforces suspicions that another murderous attack was being planned.
Despite the arrests, the real perpetrators of the execution remain at large. Authorities are searching for at least two foreign perpetrators, who are said to have acted with absolute professionalism.
The manner of the attack initially raised suspicions of the Russian-speaking mafia. The ferocity of the attack, the use of a combat rifle, and the disregard for any collateral damage were considered characteristics of similar executions attributed to Eastern Bloc circles.
Police officers recall that a similar modus operandi was recorded in the murders of Zambounis, Roumpetis, Mouzakitis and Skaftouros, cases also attributed to rival Greek mafia groups.
The murder of Giorgos Moskouris occurred on the afternoon of April 24, 2025, outside a private clinic in Halandri. The perpetrators had set up an ambush and opened fire with Kalashnikovs as the victim was walking towards his vehicle.
The 55-year-old man fell dead on the sidewalk from gunfire, while the perpetrators escaped in a vehicle that was later found burned in Patima, Halandri. The car had been stolen from a female owner, who had not yet had time to report the theft to the authorities.
