Murder of officer in Maliq/ Expert: Serious shortcomings in planning the Police operation

A State Police operation to capture a highly dangerous person has ended in a serious tragedy, leaving one police officer dead and another injured.

Security expert, Fatjon Softa, stated that the serious incident has highlighted serious shortcomings in the organization and equipment of law enforcement during interventions of this level.

In an interview with "Ora News", the security expert stated that according to him, the police officers did not take the dangerousness of the perpetrator seriously.

Softa : "It showed how serious and how aggressive and how difficult the cases are when the State Police must take police action to capture persons who are classified as highly dangerous. Even more so since we were faced with a person who had been sentenced to 10 years by the Court of Appeal, with the final decision of July 2018. A person who had been wanted for all this time, and a soldier who knew well how to use weapons, how to shoot with a gun, and also military actions, the threats that he could make in the field. And this made that operation difficult, where not only the 35 people who should have been in this operation, but also other support means, where maybe a drone, where the forces could be oriented from the air, if we could have a helicopter at the moment of the intervention, taking other special forces, not only the district forces and the 'Eagle' forces, but we could have elite forces because the investigation that we will now have from the Police Supervision Agency, but and by the Prosecution for the murder of an employee and the injury of another, they must also look at how the operation was conducted, how the communication with him was.
