A tragic event occurred in Ulcinj, where a citizen from Kosovo is suspected of killing his partner with whom he was living and then setting fire to the apartment where they lived.
According to media in Montenegro, Bashkim Gashi, 46, who also suffered injuries from the flames during the incident, has been arrested. Montenegrin police announced that the incident took place at night in the Kodra area of Ulcinj. Authorities were notified at around 00:30 of a fire in an apartment and immediately after the alarm, police forces arrived at the scene.
During the intervention, the lifeless body of a woman was found in the burning apartment, later identified as DN, 36 years old, an Albanian citizen.
According to preliminary suspicions of investigators, the suspected perpetrator initially committed the murder and then set fire to the house to hide the traces of the crime. "The police identified and took under control a person who, as suspected, committed the criminal offense of murdering his cohabitant during the night, and then set fire to the house where they lived together, in the Kodre settlement in Ulcinj. The Ulcinj Security Department was notified last night at around 00:30 that a fire had broken out in a residential building, a house in the Kodre settlement. Police officers immediately went to the scene where the body of an unknown person was found, later identified as DN (36), a citizen of Albania," the police explain.
The victim's body has been transported to the Clinical Center of Montenegro for forensic examination, while an autopsy is expected to determine the exact cause of death.
