The Korça Court sentenced him to 10 years in prison in absentia. The former soldier was hiding at the farm in Llozhan and had been wanted for a long time for cannabis cultivation.

The perpetrator who took the life of the officer in Maliq is Violand Braçellari, 43 years old, who had been wanted by the Vlora Police since 2017.

Braçellari is a well-known name for the local Police, as a decision of the Supreme Court, dated January 25, 2024, concluded that he was previously convicted of the criminal offense of "Production and sale of narcotics", committed in collaboration.

According to the decision, the Korça Judicial District Court, with decision no. 657, dated December 19, 2017, had found Violand Braçellari guilty, for whom it had set a sentence of 10 years in prison.

The decision was upheld by the Korça Court of Appeal on July 17, 2018.

Also, the court file against the former soldier mentions a criminal proceeding from 2015, where Braçellari was accused of involvement in the production and sale of narcotics.

According to the decision, during the searches carried out at the time in the apartment where he was sheltering in the village of Lozhan i Sipërm, plant remains suspected of being cannabis sativa were found.

It is further learned that the first instance court had emphasized that Braçellari had been convicted earlier, in 2013, for the criminal offense of "Cultivation of narcotic plants", committed in collaboration.

Following the appeal and recourse filed by Braçellari, the Criminal College of the Supreme Court decided on January 25, 2024 to reject the recourse, leaving the decision of the Korça Court of Appeal in force.

As a result, Violand Braçellari had been wanted by the local police for a long time.

He was finally spotted by Korça officers, who, in collaboration with the Eagles, arrived in front of the former soldier's apartment, who did not hesitate and responded to the officers with firearms, which caused the immediate death of Enea Mekolli and the injury of Edison Adri.

The latter, due to his injuries, immediately left by helicopter for Tirana to receive more specialized medical treatment. It is reported that he arrived at the Trauma Hospital a few minutes ago.

Meanwhile, it is reported that the perpetrator of the serious incident has arrived at the Korça hospital covered in blood.
