Policeman martyred in the line of duty, Hita from Trauma: Today, a sad day for the State Police! How is the condition of the injured officer?

The Director General of the State Police, Skënder Hita, visited this Thursday at the University Trauma Hospital the police officer Edison Adri, who is receiving the necessary medical assistance after injuries sustained during the police operation conducted this morning in the village of Lozhan, Maliqi.

During the operation to capture the wanted fugitive, Violand Bracellari, the latter fired a gun at police forces. As a result of the exchange of fire, the officer of the Special Force "Eagle", Enea Mekolli, lost his life, while the officer Edison Adri was seriously injured.

In a statement to the media from the Trauma Hospital premises, Hita described the event as one of the most painful moments for the State Police.

"Today is a sad event for the entire State Police. In a police operation we lost a wonderful colleague, a dedicated father and the State Police lost its servant in the service of citizens. In this event, a police officer was also seriously injured and at the same time the wanted person, for whom the encirclement and neutralization had been carried out, was injured during the exchange of fire. It is an event that leaves me speechless, today I wish I were not in front of you", said Hita.

The Police Chief announced that investigations to fully clarify the circumstances have begun and he will travel to Korça, where an official communication regarding the event is expected.

Meanwhile, medical sources indicate that the injured officer was initially transported and treated at the Korça Regional Hospital, where he was stabilized thanks to the immediate intervention of the medical staff. He was then urgently taken to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana, where he was immediately taken to the operating room.

Doctors confirm that the police officer has sustained injuries to the head and neck area, while his condition remains serious. According to them, everything is being done to ensure the best possible outcome for the patient's health, while his progress will be assessed in the coming hours and days.

Meanwhile, the much-wanted Violand Bracellari, who was injured during the exchange of fire with the police, has been transported by ambulance to the Trauma Hospital to receive the necessary medical assistance.
