For the second time this month, ChatGPT and Sora fail again

ChatGPT, Sora and OpenAI's API for developers were down for about an hour on Thursday. OpenAI has announced that it began experiencing a major outage at 11:00 AM PT. Frequent users of ChatGPT remember that the service was down earlier this month as well.
TechCrunch received several error messages when trying to access ChatGPT and Sora on Thursday afternoon.
On its status page, OpenAI says the major outage was caused by one of its service providers, but doesn't provide further details. The company says it is working to resolve the issue, but has not said when services will be back up and running.
This is the second time that the OpenAI family of services has been down during the month of December. When this happened two weeks ago, OpenAI blamed the outage on a new telemetry service that had failed. That outage lasted about 6 hours, quite a long outage. Usually, these outages only last an hour or two.
Popular services that use OpenAI's API, such as Perplexity and Siri's Apple Intelligence integration, do not appear to be affected by the outage, according to the respective companies' status pages and TechCrunch's testing.
