Official/ Inzaghi's successor at Inter, Cristian Chivu signs 2-year

Cristian Chivu is officially the new coach of Inter, as the Italian club confirmed the agreement through a post on social media.

Chivu replaces Inzaghi as coach of the Blues and has signed a two-year contract which will last until the end of the 2026-27 season.

"FC Internazionale Milano is pleased to welcome Cristian Chivu as the new First Team coach. The coach has signed a contract with Inter until 30 June 2027," a statement on the club's website said.

The 44-year-old rejoins Inter after a four-month spell in Serie A with Parma, who he helped secure Serie A survival in the final week of the 2024-25 season.

Chivu spent the last seven years of his playing career at San Siro with Inter, and also began his coaching career by taking charge of the club's U14, U17, U18 and Primavera teams between 2018 and 2024.

He then left to take charge of Parma in February 2025, but has now returned to take on the role of first-team coach with the Blues.

Chivu's arrival comes six days after Inzaghi's departure. Inzaghi left Inter three days after a crushing 5-0 defeat by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final, at the end of an ultimately disappointing season for the coach and his team.

Inter were in contention for a treble in April but were knocked out of the Coppa Italia in the semi-finals by rivals Milan, lost the Serie A title to Napoli by a single point and then lost 5-0 to PSG in the Champions League final.

Inzaghi left Inter four years into his initial appointment, and walked away with a Serie A title, two Coppa Italia trophies, three Supercoppa Italiana trophies, as well as two Champions League final medals (2023 and 2025).
