He had an accident in the first stage, here's what the cyclist suffered according to the doctors! The Spanish favorite ends his Giro d'Italia adventure in Albania

An accident occurred on the first stage of the Giro d'Italia on the descent from Linza to Dajti Mountain where Spanish cyclist Miguel Landa crashed into a pole on a difficult and sharp turn and fell to the asphalt, while two other cyclists, Jay Vine and Corbin Strong, fell on his bike on the road.

The two American cyclists got up and continued the race normally, while Landa appeared to have suffered a serious injury and was unable to continue the race. 

Landa did not continue, he was offered first aid and taken to the hospital by ambulance for further tests and examinations.

After initial examinations, it turned out that he had damaged his spine in the thoracic region.

According to his team's announcement this evening, doctors have determined that Landa has suffered a fracture in the T11 thoracic vertebra, an injury that requires absolute rest and staying in a special position for a long period before rehabilitation begins.

He is currently hospitalized in a hospital in Tirana where he spent Friday night.

During Saturday, decisions are expected to be made on how to transport him to Spain, depending on medical recommendations.

Landa's crash is a huge blow to his team and to the race itself, as he was considered one of the main protagonists of this edition of the Giro d'Italia.

The Spaniard currently led the championship standings and wanted to take a place on the podium, as in the 2015 and 2022 rounds.
