Last season for Taulant Xhaka, Albanian midfielder announces retirement from football

Taulant Xhaka will end his football career and “hang up his boots.” The Albanian midfielder has made this drastic decision, as he will end everything with football in the summer.
"Everything I've been able to experience with this club so far is still a dream for me, especially as a native of Basel. I've been able to experience so many wonderful moments at the club, I've had so many great teammates in the dressing room and I've been able to play against the best players in the world.
"It was always important for me to decide for myself to stop playing football and I have come to the conclusion that this summer will be that moment. I will be 34 years old at the end of March and what could be better than to retire at the age of 34, the number I have worn since I was young," Xhaka said, among other things, in a video released by the club where he communicated his farewell from football played at the end of this season.
A footballer who came out of the Basel academy in Switzerland, of which he has been a part since 2005. He has only had one year off, on loan from January 2012 to June 2013 at Grasshoppers.
Since 2013, Xhaka has only been part of Basel. A total of 479 matches, where he has found the net 12 times, and assisted in 31 others.
As for the Albanian national team, Xhaka has played 30 matches, scoring one goal. He was one of the protagonists of Albania's historic qualification for Euro 2016.
The 33-year-old has won 10 trophies so far, and his career, which will end in the summer, could be "crowned" with another trophy, as Basel is in the race for the Swiss championship title.
The honors have begun at Basel, where the club and fans consider him an eternal "red and blue" legend.
