PSG towards history, one step away from quadruple success, a record of only one

Only one obstacle remains between Paris Saint-Germain and the legend of world football: Simone Inzaghi's Inter.

After winning Ligue 1, the Coupe de France and the Supercopa de France, Luis Enrique's team will play in the Champions League final in Munich on Saturday, aiming to win the biggest European trophy for the first time and complete a historic "Quadruple", which has only been achieved once in the history of football.

The only team to achieve this success was Celtic in the 1966-67 season, against Inter.

In that final in Lisbon, the Scots overturned the initial lead of the Black and Blues (Mazzola's goal from the penalty spot in the 7th minute) and won 2-1 with goals from Gemmell (63') and Chalmers (84').

That defeat marked the end of Helenio Herrera's "Grande Inter" era.

Today, history risks repeating itself, but this time it is PSG that seeks to enter the golden books of football.

What does "Quadriplet" mean?

In football, this term is used when a team wins four important trophies in one season, usually the league title, domestic cup, super cup and Champions League.

PSG has already won three French trophies and aims to claim the final crown against Inter.

Teams that have achieved the "Treblet" (championship, domestic cup and Champions League):

1966/67 – Celtic
1971/72 – Ajax
1987/88 – PSV Eindhoven
1998/99 – Manchester United
2008/09 – Barcelona
2009/10 – Inter
2012/13 – Bayern Munich
2014/15 – Barcelona
2019/20 – Bayern Munich
2022/23 – Manchester City.
