Forbes lists the 10 best places to live in 2026

More and more people are seriously considering living abroad. According to a new survey by International Living, 66% of Americans say current conditions have prompted them to consider moving outside the US sooner than they had planned.
The main reasons are related to the rising cost of living, political fatigue and the desire for a simpler, healthier and more community-connected life. That's why the Global Retirement Index 2026 ranks the 10 best places in the world to live, based on cost of living, healthcare, climate, infrastructure, visas and real-life experiences of expats living there.
