From records, to emotions and fans: The European won by the Albanian national team!

The Albanian national team played the last match in Euro 2024 yesterday evening, after failing to qualify for the direct elimination phase.

Albania managed to qualify for the second time in its history in a European championship, after 2016. And this is certainly no small achievement. We arrived in Germany, after an excellent qualifying phase, with goals, emotions, a beautiful game, and above all as the head of the group.
Of course, for this reason the expectations were high, perhaps even to go beyond the group stage. And yet, fate wanted to test us, placing us in one of the groups, if not the most difficult.
Spain, Italy and Croatia, these were our opponents in this journey. The first declared World and European Champion, the second, reigning champion of Europe, and the third, finalist of the World Cup.
Starting on June 15, Albania only needed 23 seconds to make history, as Nedim Bajrami scored the fastest goal in the history of a European Championship.
It took a full 20 years for this record to be broken and looking at exactly those 23 seconds, it will take even more to dethrone Bajram. We lost that match. Maybe we could have won it, but let's not forget that we had big names in front of us.
But that wasn't enough, because even in the second game, it would be Gjasula who would set a new record. He is the first footballer to have scored an own goal and a goal in the same match during the European Championship. A strange record, yes, but it will be remembered that it was set by an Albanian.
As for the second match, we got the first point in this competition, but above all we gave a spectacle. There were many football fans who described it as the most beautiful match they had seen until those moments.
And finally, came Spain. A "scary" team that scored 5 goals against Croatia and beat Italy. And yet, Albania was faced as an equal, just like the other two teams. We really lost, but it is certain that the red and black national team managed to enter the hearts of many fans, not only those of Albanians. And above all, he gained the experience that a small country like ours lacked.
If we stop at the Albanians, the fans in Germany showed Europe who we are, with an exemplary behavior. From Dortmund, to Hamburg and Dusseldorf, the stadiums were occupied by Albanians who never hesitated to cheer for the team, even a defeat.
Albania left the European Union faster than it should have because of what it showed, however, it is certain that the "eagles" from the Balkans will be talked about for a long time.
