Franz Beckenbauer is honored, the German Super Cup will bear the legend's name

The German Football Federation and the German Football League have found a common language and have decided to change the name of the German Supercup, which from now on will be the "Franz Beckenbauer Cup".

The news was reported by the German media, which announced that very little is missing from the finalization of the agreement, only a few details.

The first edition of the trophy with the new name will be held on August 16, 2025.

Beckenbauer, who died aged 78 on January 7, won countless titles with Bayern Munich and was later their president. He lifted the World Cup as a player and coach and brought the 2006 World Cup to Germany.
