"I only held two trials there", Lapaj responds to the allegations about the wealth of his father-in-law, former president of the Court of Saranda

Before and during the campaign for the May 11 parliamentary elections, the leader of the "Albania Becomes" coalition, Adriatik Lapaj, was accused of having used numerous rallies at home and abroad, some of which were funded by his father-in-law, who was the president of the Saranda Court until the end of 2017, when he left the system.

In the studio of the show "The Unexposed" on MCN TV, Lapaj said that from the day he started working as a lawyer in 2014, until his father-in-law left his job, he had forbidden himself from participating in legal proceedings at the Saranda court.  

"Go to the Saranda Court, make a request and say: from the day that Adriatiku got married, until the day that this gentleman became a judge, has he conducted any legal proceedings in that court? And how long has he been a judge?"

You know, since the day I got married, he's been out of the system. It's only been two months. I got married in December 2017.

From the day the boy was identified as a lover, that is, from the university until the day he left the system, was there any trial conducted by Adriatik Lapa in the Saranda Court? Are you able to verify this?

From the day I started working as a lawyer in 2014, until that gentleman left his job, I had forbidden myself from participating in legal proceedings in that court. From the day I finished school and became a lawyer, until the day he left the system, I have not accepted to conduct trials in that court. I have only conducted two trials: one with a panel of judges from Gjirokastra and another that was a simple case, without any importance and without connection. He has not been part of those trials at all. I have been careful not to go to that court at all. Not at all.

The one who married so-and-so's daughter. What do people say? People call him a judge, but judges are corrupt people. We're going to blame this guy for his father-in-law. But I'm me, he's the one, and he may have broken the law. Now I'm responsible for him? Because there's no logic to it, " said Lapaj.
