MP Luan Baçi: Everyone should be held responsible for the DP's defeat, except Berisha!

The blame for the Democratic Party's defeat in the May 11 elections lay with the government and Edi Rama, due to the use of state machinery and vote manipulation. This was stated by Democratic MP Luan Baçi, re-elected from the safe list of the Fier district (awaiting final certification). He stressed that for him it does not matter whether the recount of votes in that district will bring a change in the result, but that it was enough to prove the electoral farce.
Baçi underlined that the responsibility for the defeat that affected not only Fier, but all of Albania, does not lie with Sali Berisha, because he kept the party united and gave it over 520 thousand votes, but this responsibility should be borne by everyone else except him.
The MP publicly demanded that votes no longer be counted by commissioners elected by political parties, but by the CEC administration, and that the counting of ballots be done simultaneously for candidates and subjects and not one after the other, increasing the risk of interference.
Regarding the situation brought about by the recount after the complaints of the democratic candidates, for which Baçi also expressed his support, where the theft of votes within the DP in preferential votes was discovered, he listed several causes, while admitting that there was interference from both parties. Referring to the result of the Fier district, he stood by the cause, like its chairman Sali Berisha, that it was a massive manipulation, using all the tactics by the government and the socialist political leader of the district, Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku.
"Fier was a living sign of the manipulation of the May 11 vote. The Deputy Prime Minister of the government, Belinda Balluku, came down 5-6 months before the electoral process in Fier, not only but together with state machinery. Out of fear that they had come down 6 months before to register residents from other regions in the Fier region. Easy to register in the Fier region, where there were many citizens who were not residents there, but also did the work of patronage workers. They are manipulators of the will of citizens, employees of the administration, which is paid with the taxes of the citizens who were involved, local and central. Employment, legalizations, construction permits were used, employment in Albpetrol during these months has been without criteria. All of these are verifiable violations. If the SP had not done all this, the DP would have undoubtedly won", Baçi continued his discourse on the loss of May 11.
He suggested that the CEC should order the counting of candidate and subject votes at the same time, and not one before and the other after.
"These are all the reasons for the violations found so far. There are also human errors. But this starts from the process in the CEC or the ballot paper. In Fier, Balluku and Rama also stole the closed list of the DP. I agree with the opinion why votes are not being counted for both at the moment, both the candidate and the subject. The opposition has raised it as a concern, I have raised it too. This problem comes from both sides. This is where the problem starts, with interventions from all sides because the CEC has not resolved it properly. Another factor has been the fatigue of the counters and then comes the intervention from each side according to preferences", explained the democratic legislator, who is awaiting re-election through the final certification of the results of May 11.
He supported the demands of colleagues and candidates for transparency in complaints within the party. He also publicly suggested that the votes in the elections should no longer be counted by party commissioners, but by the CEC administration. He even raised strong suspicions that the law was violated, because many of the counters had secondary education and not higher education.
Regarding the analysis of the loss, he emphasized that it will be done only within the party and he would express himself only within the structures and not in public. "Discussions about the result and the political leaders of the region have the right place and the right time for internal analysis in the party, within our family and not in public, this is my opinion I have always had. The result was determined before May 11, it was stolen by the prime minister and the state of the allies within us did not affect this result. These are discussions that the DP should have and the party will have, within itself" , continued the deputy.
