Tehran called Edi Rama's accusations of involvement in the protests

Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted after statements made by Tehran, which rejected the claims of the head of the Albanian government, according to which Iran is behind the protests in Albania against the project of a tourist resort in the Zvërnec area.

Earlier, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman described these claims as baseless and called them an attempt to avoid debates on citizens' concerns,

This statement has also brought the reaction of the head of the Albanian government, who has stood by his accusations of Iran's involvement in cyber attacks and hostile actions against Albania. Through a post on the social network "X", Rama has emphasized that our country has previously experienced serious cyber attacks that, according to international investigations, have been linked to actors supported by Iran.

In his statement, Rama also defended Albania's stance on sheltering Iranian citizens who oppose the regime in their country, linking this to the country's tradition of protecting people in need. He also warned that Albania will continue to strengthen its capacities to confront similar attacks, while accusing the Iranian regime of internal repression and disinformation campaigns abroad.

"And Albania will never apologize, will never back down, and will never be afraid for standing on the side of these values. So continue to manipulate and deceive anyone in the colorful West who is willing to believe your lies."

"But you will never succeed in making Albanians enemies of peoples - be they Jews, Arabs or Americans. Because what these peoples have in common, and what you fear, are precisely the things you have denied your nation for too long: Great hopes, great dreams and the determination to live freely, to seek peace and to relentlessly build prosperity ," Rama writes, among other things.

So now suddenly you care about the Albanian people?

The same Albanian people, whose institutions, public services and digital infrastructure became the object of a terrorist cyber campaign aimed at paralyzing an entire country, and which international investigations have linked to actors supported by your regime.

We know those traces very well.

We know the threats.

And we know that what has fueled your hostility towards Albania has never been Zionism, nor any other convenient slogan of your disgusting propaganda.

It was your hostility to freedom itself.

You cannot forgive Albania for doing what Albanians have always done: opening doors to people fleeing persecution.

You cannot forgive Albania for giving refuge to Iranian men and women, whom you have tried to silence with intimidation, imprisonment, and death, just because they dare to think differently, speak differently, or dream differently.

We do not abandon the people who knock on our door seeking protection from oppression.

We didn't do this when Jews fleeing Nazi persecution needed shelter. Albania became the only country in Europe that had more Jews after World War II than before it.

And we will not disappoint the Iranians who seek safety from intimidation, persecution, or assassination. Nor will we surrender in the face of your desperate and relentless cyber attacks. After your major attack, we built a modern and durable cyber shield, which has made Albania much stronger and much better prepared to face your continued unsuccessful attacks.

You are free to use the privileges of open societies to spread your false narratives, your shameful accusations, and your brutal threats.

But, as Albanians learned from fifty years of darkness under our atheocratic dictatorship, propaganda can hide the truth, it can distort the truth, and it can delay the truth, but it can never bury the truth—not even under the weight of a medieval theocracy like yours.

Your regime can attack networks, imprison critics, censor voices, threaten opponents, pressure neighbors, and endlessly fabricate excuses for its own failures.

But it can't escape reality forever.

Regimes built on fear, censorship, repression, and the suppression of dissent may survive for a time, but history is merciless toward those who declare war on the freedom and well-being of their people.

He deserves the right to speak without fear.

And Albania will never apologize, will never retreat, and will never be afraid for the fact that it stands on the side of these values.

So continue to manipulate and deceive anyone in the colorful West who is willing to believe your lies.

But you will never succeed in making Albanians enemies of the peoples - be they Jews, Arabs or Americans.

Because what these peoples have in common, and what you fear, are the very things you have denied your nation for too long:

Great hopes, big dreams, and the determination to live freely, to seek peace, and to relentlessly build prosperity.
