Another strong message, accompanied by irony and sarcasm towards the current electoral system in Albania, was conveyed by a protester in front of the Prime Minister's Office building. He took the microphone and recounted an imagined incident from voting day to criticize the phenomenon of closed party lists.
The citizen pointed out the inability of voters to select the candidates they truly want, focusing on old political figures.
"I received the ballot paper to vote and I was in a dilemma: should I vote for Zegjine Çaushi because my heart told me to, or should I vote for the future, Sali Berisha, 83 years old? I said I'm giving it to Zegjine because I love her very much. When I opened the envelope with the ballot paper, I couldn't find her name," he said ironically.
At the end of his speech, the protester made a direct appeal to the head of government, demanding a reform that returns sovereignty and full freedom to the citizens' vote.
"Edi Rama should give us the opportunity to vote for who we want, not those you serve us on the lists!" the protester concluded amid laughter and approval from the crowd.
