The loss of the DP/Edith Harxhi: Let's look at ourselves, open the party

The Democratic Party's candidate for deputy in the Tirana District, Edith Harxhi, has reacted after the drastic loss of the political force she is part of in the May 11 parliamentary elections.

In a post on social media, Harxhi lists a number of reasons for election manipulation, starting from organized crime, poor people, opposition disunity, or the current geopolitical situation.

But she also has a message for what the DP should do now after the defeat. Edith Harxhi writes that they should look within themselves, where to open the party and appreciate the resisters, because according to her, this is the only way they can build trust.

Dear friends, dear democrats and supporters of free voting,

It took me a few days to understand everything that happened on May 11th and beyond, and that's why I couldn't express myself before.

What has happened in our country is called an electoral junta, industrial patronage, and state security. I feel unable to analyze this situation and the derailment of the state and citizens, but I think that such a capture of tragic but also comical proportions has several factors:

1. Nero and his drug-addicted gang who do everything to maintain power and preserve their interests by any violent means.
2. The poor, unconscious, frightened and captured people by the regime in some cases.
3. The opposition that they killed, destroyed, divided, despised and ultimately left at the mercy of the captured and alienated vote, but also its problems to properly rebuild itself with values and morals.
4. The complicated geopolitical situation where, no matter how small we are, we are easily influenced by the major clashes and geostrategic directions of both our great ally America and Europe, of which we are a part. And in this geopolitical theater, the dictatorial clowns (like ours) play their part.

I feel honored to have been part of a campaign where I and we gave everything. I sincerely thank all my supporters, followers, friends, those who voted for me and those who did not vote for me because they had other preferences within the category, all those who listened to me, spoke to me, believed in me, looked me in the eye and shook my hand. This was not a fair race in every respect, and yet I got the best out of it, meeting many of you and many others who cannot read me here on FB. I sincerely thank the workers of the Democratic Party, its members and the resisters.

I am a fighter and my battle is moral. I will continue it with the same dedication as in the establishment, in the re-establishment and beyond until value wins over anti-value, and for this reason I will continue to insist that we look at ourselves, open the party and value the resisters first because only in this way can we build trust.

I thank you with gratitude for your continued support, I remain who I was in December 1990 and in December 2021 without any change… I invite you to resistance….
