DNA analysis refutes the age-old myth: Adolf Hitler did not have a Jewish

Nazi Führer Adolf Hitler did not have a Jewish grandfather.

This finding was reached by researchers, thanks to the analysis of a cloth soaked in the dictator's blood, dispelling this old myth, almost a century old.

The piece of cloth with Hitler's DNA comes from the sofa on which he committed suicide on April 30, 1945, the team of researchers explained, in a documentary to be broadcast on British television channel Channel 4 on Saturday.

This is the first time Hitler's genome has been analyzed, said Tori King, a geneticist at the University of Bath in western England who led the study. The analysis "debunks a myth" that Hitler's grandfather was Jewish - a myth that began when the dictator was still alive and continues to circulate today, said the makers of the documentary "Hitler's DNA: Profile of a Dictator."

The myth was that Hitler's father was the fruit of an extramarital affair his grandmother had with her employer, who was of Jewish origin. But researchers found genetic DNA matches between the dictator and the paternal line of the Hitler family (Hidler), according to CBS. If there was any truth to the myth, "we wouldn't have the DNA match with the Hitler family," said Turi King.

Meanwhile, while Hitler's private life remains a mystery, DNA analysis has revealed that he "probably" suffered from Kallmann syndrome, a genetic disorder that in men usually manifests as reduced testosterone production and abnormal development of the genitals.

Kallmann syndrome is often associated with cryptorchidism and microphallus.

DNA analysis allows, for the first time, to confirm historical documents, according to which Hitler suffered from cryptorchidism on the right side. Popular songs during World War II often mocked the dictator's anatomy.

The tests also showed that Hitler had a “very high” rate (in the upper 1%) of predisposition to autism, schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.

The researchers stressed, however, that these diseases do not explain the policies pursued by Hitler, which led to the deaths of tens of millions of people and the genocide of six million Jews.
