Is there really a ninth planet? Astronomers find new evidence

Astronomers have announced that they may have found evidence for the existence of a ninth planet in our solar system, far beyond the orbit of Neptune, according to Sciencealert.
The discovery is based on analysis of infrared data collected decades ago, which indicate the presence of a large, very cold object moving slowly through space.
The suspected object was identified by comparing data from the American IRAS satellite of 1983 and the Japanese AKARI mission of 2006.
In this data, a weak thermal signal was observed that had changed position over the course of 28 years, a possible indicator of an orbit around the Sun.
According to estimates, this celestial body may be located at a distance of 500 to 700 astronomical units from the Sun, making it extremely distant.
If confirmed as a planet, it could have a mass 7 to 17 times that of Earth and an extreme temperature well below zero, which explains why it is so difficult to detect.
This discovery is closely related to the mysteries of the Kuiper Belt, a region beyond Neptune filled with icy bodies.
For years, astronomers have noticed that some of these objects have strange, clustered orbits, suggesting the gravitational influence of a large, unseen planet.
The characteristics of the potential planet bring it closer to Uranus and Neptune, the so-called icy giants, which have atmospheres rich in hydrogen, helium and methane.
Due to its distance and low temperature, infrared telescopes remain the primary tool for its detection.
However, scientists emphasize that the current evidence is not yet conclusive.
New and continued observations are needed to confirm the object's orbital motion and to rule out the possibility that it is a distant background source.
If confirmed, this discovery would significantly change our understanding of the structure of the solar system and officially restore the idea that our Sun has nine planets, opening a new chapter in astronomy.
