The Kosovo Assembly convenes today for the fifth session on the constitution
Today, for the fifth time in a row, the constitutive session of the Assembly of Kosovo will be held.
The session, as announced, will start at 10:00.
We recall that its postponement came after the winner of the February 9 elections, the Vetëvendosje Movement (LVV), requested a political agreement.
During the April 21 session, LVV MP Glauk Konjufca stated that the party did not see it as reasonable to re-nominate Albulena Haxhiu as Speaker of the Assembly, as other parliamentary parties refuse to vote for her.
Therefore, on this issue, he sought agreement with other political parties on the issue of the Speaker of the Assembly.
In the session of April 19, the new deputies were sworn in, leaving behind the impasse of the start of this new legislature.
Kurti and his cabinet submitted their formal resignations while Albulena Haxhiu, the VV candidate for speaker of parliament, was defeated twice in the vote.
Meanwhile, VV secured 57 votes in parliament on Saturday, even without the numbers of Fatmir Limaj's Social Democratic Initiative party.
Kurti now needs 4 more votes to pass the new speaker of parliament and the new government.
