From "America won't bring you to power" to "we will complain to America about the election theft"

The paradoxes of politics in this country no longer surprise anyone, except that sometimes they reach such levels of absurdity that they leave you speechless. One of these is that of Sali Berisha and the Democratic Party, who, from denying American influence in Albanian politics, have gone on to try to complain to the US about the recent elections.
All this started in 2021, when Sali Berisha, after being declared "non grata" by the US State Department, launched a lynching campaign against Lulzim Basha. Berisha declared himself a sovereignist, rejecting any external influence, especially American, and arrogantly declaring that "it will not be the Americans who will vote in Albania", that "America has nothing to do with internal developments", that "there are two USAs", one held hostage by SOROS and the other free, and that "sovereignty" was included in his current agenda, regardless of what he did and how he subsequently behaved in relation to Himara and Beleri. This anti-American discourse was also taken up and articulated by his media supporters, lynching and mocking ambassadors and senior US officials, who served the local regime and not the interests of their country.
More than a principled stance, it turned out to be simply an alibi for Berisha’s international isolation. This was confirmed shortly before the last elections, when his group’s propaganda changed completely. Militants and spokespeople began to invent scenarios for the removal of the “non grata”. Initially, it was said that it had been removed, then that Berisha would go to the US before the elections. In fact, 6 million dollars were paid in a lobbying effort, which ultimately produced only a post by a journalist on the X platform (formerly Twitter), where, without mentioning any specific source, he claimed that he “had asked” in the US and that “Berisha could travel” to the US. However, Berisha did not travel to the US because that night he was invited to Fevziu’s. After 3 days, the elections were held and he lost them as never before, with a crushing and humiliating result.
After all these failures, the absurdity continues. Now Berisha and his followers are declaring that they will complain precisely to the US – which they had excluded from any intervention – about the “stealing” of the elections. Not only that, but they are also demanding that the US declare “non grata” terrorist organizations in Albania (who are these organizations according to Berisha??). So, Berisha, himself “non grata” wants to declare others “non grata”.
This behavior is both tragic and comical, it is both laughable and tearful. On the one hand, the government can laugh at the absurdity of an opposition that does not know what it wants, that denies and then prays, that mocks and then bows. On the other hand, honest democrats and militants must feel deceived. The sooner they understand this reality, the sooner they will have the chance to rebuild a real, sincere and responsible opposition. Because democracy needs an opposition, but not political caricatures of the past, who, unable to scare the opponent, make him laugh.
