After the birth of the first baby with in vitro fertilization, in the "Koço Gliozheni" maternity hospital, the demand of Albanian couples who have not tried to have a child for years increases.
Prof. Orion Gliozheni, who heads the center of assisted reproduction techniques, said that the first baby born to a 41-year-old mother was the first success, but the women presented are relatively old.
"The number of couples who encounter difficulties in having a child keeps increasing. Many of them turn to private clinics, where the financial cost is high. In this center, this cost is estimated at nearly 4 million old lek and for the first year, 100 invitro fertilizations will be performed, the costs of which, including the analysis, will be covered by the Ministry of Health. So far, out of 19 couples who have undergone this procedure, 9 mothers are pregnant" , says Gliozheni.
