Two ships carrying humanitarian aid to Cuba disappear in Mexico

Two ships in Mexico carrying humanitarian aid to Cuba have disappeared.
The Mexican Navy announced that it has launched search and rescue operations to find the two boats with nine people of different nationalities on board.
The Mexican Navy is also in contact with authorities and search and rescue centers in France, Poland, Cuba and the United States.
Since last week, activists from various countries have been leaving Mexico by boat to transport food and other essential goods to the island under a communist government, which has faced an oil blockade from Washington since February.
The two missing ships left Isla Mujeres in the state of Quintana Roo, in southeastern Mexico, on Friday; they were expected to arrive in Havana on Tuesday or the day before Wednesday, according to information released by the Mexican Navy.
So far, it has not been possible to "contact" them, nor to "confirm their arrival," she explained.
According to an AFP team aboard another ship that reached Cuba, strong winds and currents made the journey difficult.
